草榴社区

Dr. Mark Harvey is a Professor and Director of the MBA program at the University of Saint Mary.  Dr. Harvey has been with the 草榴社区 faculty since 2012, and has served as the director of the MBA program since 2017.  He teaches global management, economics, organizational management, and leadership.  Dr. Harvey earned a Ph.D from the University of Kansas, master鈥檚 degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the University of Wales-Swansea in the UK, and a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Washburn University. He also studied International Business and Global Politics in a non-degree seeking program at Regent鈥檚 College in London.  Before teaching at 草榴社区, Dr. Harvey taught at the University of Birmingham, London School of Economics, Duke University, the University of Kansas, and others.

Before going into academia, he was a small business owner and professional consultant.鈥� His consulting work included technical marketing, corporate social responsibility and the environment, competitive benchmarking, graduate education in the U.K., and political marketing in Ireland. He advised Charles, Charles and Associates, Marketing Resources of America, Hoechst Celanese, Printing Industries of America, Honeywell, MyJoeCard.com, Political Studies Association (PSA), and C-SAP (Centre for Learning and Teaching).  He takes part in National Security Roundtables and simulations at the Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Fort Leavenworth and worked with the Center for International Political Analysis at the University of Kansas to support the Kansas Event Data System data set, forecasting conflict in the developing world.   

His book, of , discusses how the global entertainment industry influences our political perceptions. His chapter, 鈥溾�淚'm a Ratings Machine!" Media Coverage and the Celebrity of Donald Trump鈥� appears in an edited volume, . He has also published books on educational pedagogy and active learning, including   and , as well as a chapter on international studies simulations in the .  Other publications include topics such as innovation in the music industry, the politics of sport, human rights, economic development, democratization, artificial intelligence, and virtual learning teams.  He has appeared on CNN, BBC, NPR, PBS, ABC, CBC, and has been interviewed by the New York Times, Washington Post, The Hill, USA Today, and many more.
